If you are over 30, you are likely experiencing somatopause!
Somatopause is the medical term for the weight gain,
loss of muscle, energy decline and wrinkled skin you experience
when you hit middle age. To combat somatopause, medical researchers
say people must incorporate anaerobic exercise into their weekly
fitness routine. Anaerobic exercise programs, such as SPRINT
8, help you release your fitness hormone. Try SPRINT 8 at a
local Vision Fitness® retail location today!

Brief description of the Vision Fitness® SPRINT
8 program:
The SPRINT 8 program consists of four minutes of
sprint intervals* - broken out into eight, quick 30-second
segments - and 16 minutes of "active rest." The program
includes the following phases:
- The warm-up period gradually increases your heart rate,
respiration and the blood flow to working muscles. The warm-up
is controlled by the user to meet their specific needs.
- Interval training starts immediately after the warm-up
with a 30-second sprint interval. Seven recovery intervals
of one minute and 30 seconds will alternate with the eight
30-second sprint intervals. On our bikes and ellipticals, the scrolling message display
on the console will prompt you to increase your pedal rate
(rpm) during the sprint interval and decrease pedal rate
(rpm) during the recovery interval. It is recommended that
your rpm during the sprints on our bikes be 30 to 50 higher
than your rpm during the recovery intervals (sprints should
be 20 to 40 rpm higher on ellipticals). Our treadmills will notify you when the speed and elevation will automatically change (increase or decrease) based on the level you've selected.
- The cool-down period helps return your body's systems to
resting levels. Less demand is placed on your heart during
recovery if an appropriate cool-down takes place following
the exercise.
Because this is a specialized training program, total workout
time is not displayed during the program. Instead, the interval
time is displayed in the time window. It takes only 20 minutes
to complete the SPRINT 8 program!
*Intensity is determined by the user's level
of fitness. Beginners, for example, would have a much lower
level of intensity than elite athletes. Sprint intervals should
be at an intensity level that gets you winded and makes your
muscles burn. Always exercise caution when doing sprints. Stretch
before and after your workout to prevent injury. Seek the advice
of a doctor before starting any new exercise regimen.
